In Flanders Festival Ghent has made it a habit to treat the surrounding areas to some fine music as well. In 2009, countless cities and communes of East Flanders province will again take part in the Festival’s celebratory mood.
In 2008, 28 villages and cities of East Flanders province played host to 29 performances. This concert series has in fact become an important part of the province’s musical offering.
The response to the events staged the previous years has been impressive. To some villages and cities, the Flanders Festival concert was the musical—or even cultural—highlight of the year.
